Q: What is a smart bottle?
A: A smart bottle has a smart touch display and offers you several smart functions. Our LUMISAN smart bottle has a touch display to initiate and stop all smart functions such as drink reminders and measuring the temperature. It is even equiped with a UV-C Light Technology sterilization function to eradicate up to 99,99% of bacteria and viruses. Q: How do I charge the LUMISAN smart bottle?
A: The LUMISAN smart bottle can easily be recharged via magnetic USB-cable. (Included)

Q: How often do I have to charge the LUMISAN smart bottle?
A: It depends on the intensity of the use of the bottle’s smart functions, but normally it would be around 40 uses of the smart functions. This equals about 1 month when using the bottle’s smart functions on a daily basis about once or twice a day.

Q: How do I use the smart functions?
A: Every smart function is very easy to activate and deactivate. Tap once on the touchscreen display to see the temperature of the bottle’s content. Tap twice to activate or deactivate the drink reminder function. Tap three times to activate or deactivate the sterilization process.

A: Only 4 minutes.

Q: Can I take the LUMISAN smart bottle on holiday?
A: Yes, great idea! The LUMISAN smart bottle is also flight-proof, as long as you put it in your hand luggage. Our smart functions work as a result of the lithium battery in the cup cover. Lithium batteries are not allowed to be transported in your checked bag, therefor you need to take it with you in your carry-on. Make sure you empty the LUMISAN smart bottle beforehand because liquids, except for small 100ml flasks, are not allowed in your hand luggage.

Q: Is the LUMISAN smart bottle safe?
A: Yes, the LUMISAN smart bottle has been tested and is certified for the EU market. Please read the manual carefully before first use.

Q: What kind of drinks can I put in the LUMISAN smart bottle besides water?
A: You can use it for water and tea. We do not recommend putting coffee in the bottle, simply because it will be quite hard to avoid stains and a coffee smell in your LUMISAN smart bottle.

Please do not put dry ice, carbonated drinks and dairy products in the bottle for your safety.

Q: Can I put alkaline water in the LUMISAN smart bottle?
Yes.

Q: I like infused water, such as water with blueberries, is that possible?
A: Yes, you can put fruits in your LUMISAN smart bottle to improve the taste of your water. However, we would like to warn you that the UV-C Light Technology will not be as effective since your fruit will prohibit the light from getting in every single corner of your flask.

Look at it as if the UV-C LED Light were the sun. Your body leaves a shadow wherever you go. That way your body prevents the sun from shining where your shadow lies. In this case the fruit would be your body and it prevents the UV-C Light Technology from shining and sterilizing at certain places.

Q: Is the LUMISAN smart bottle meant for cold or hot drinks?
A: Both! The insulation function is excellent. Drinks between 40°C and 55°C will stay warm up to 24 (!) hours. Cold drinks below 10°C stay cold for 6 hours. For more information, check out the product information here.

Q: Does the LUMISAN smart bottle get rid of heavy metals and/or fluoride?
A: No, it inactivates up to 99,99% of bacteria and viruses via UV-C Light Technology, but it does not contain a filter to remove heavy metals, nor fluoride.

For this reason, we do not recommend filling your LUMISAN smart bottle with water during a hike for example. The environment is severely polluted by heavy metals so even in natural waters they are present. There are many toxic heavy metals, even in low concentrations, so we do not encourage drinking polluted water.

Q: Do I need to clean the LUMISAN smart bottle or is it self-cleaning?
A: The LUMISAN smart bottle gets rid of germs but still needs to be cleaned. Why? Because a self-cleaning smart bottle sterilizes your drink, not the bottle itself. It is technically impossible to get rid of germs f.e. on the outside of the bottle without your help. Cleaning your LUMISAN smart bottle is therefor highly important.

The way this bottle needs to be cleaned, can differ from other bottles. Please read the instructions below carefully.

The LUMISAN smart bottle cannot be placed it in the dishwasher or dish dryer. The bottle is equiped with a battery and a LED UV-C light, which makes it impossible (and dangerous) to put it in the machines mentioned earlier.

However, it is important to eliminate germs on the bottle, especially on places where the UV-C light doesn't shine. Clean the cup cover with a slightly damp cloth or the small dish brush included in the packaging. Afterwards rub the cup cover with a dry cloth. Wash the cup itself by hand with a dish brush.

Q: Is the LUMISAN smart bottle BPA free?
A: Yes! The LUMISAN smart bottle does not contain BPA.

BPA stands for bisphenol A. Did you know that BPA is an industrial chemical that has been used to make plastics and resins? Many water bottles still contain BPA! You do not want BPA near your water. Research has shown that BPA can seep into beverages from water bottles that are made with BPA. Exposure to BPA may lead to health effects on the brain and prostate gland of fetuses, infants and children. It can also affect children’s behavior and other research even suggests a possible link between BPA and increased blood pressure.

Q: Which materials were used for the LUMISAN smart bottle?
A:

Q: How large is the LUMISAN smart bottle?
A:

Q: How many refills do I need a day to stay healthy?
A: Experts recommend to drink at least 1,5 liter water a day. This means you would have to drink only 3 and 1/3 LUMISAN smart bottles filled with water a day.

UV-C Light Technology

Q: What is UV-C?
A: UV-C is a type of ultraviolet light that is able to sterilize air, water and surfaces. The light is able to ionize organic molecules and altering their DNA and RNA, which makes it an excellent tool to disinfect air, water and surfaces.  It destroys their ability to multiply and cause diseases! That is why UV-C is often called ‘germicidal ultraviolet light’. Read more here

Q: Is UV-C Light Technology new?
A: Yes and no. It has been used in the medical sector and food industry for decades now, but it is new in terms of bottles and other consumer goods. Read more here

Q: What are the advantages of UV-C Light Technology?
A: Nowadays, UV-C light is used on a big scale because it clearly is the easiest way to sterilize air, water and surfaces fast! In fact it is also quite cheap in the long run, compared to f.e. chemical disinfectants and better for the environment.

Q: Does UV-C Light Technology kill covid-19?
A: Research on COVID-19 is still a work-in-progress since this type of virus is quite new. The full efficacy of UV-C light against SARS-CoV-2 (which is the coronavirus causing COVID-19) is tested and the results so far are encouraging! Read more here

Q: What if your UV-C device is defective or your UV-C lamp is broken?
A: Never try to repair the product yourself. Never! First of all, you’ll immediately lose your warranty rights. Most importantly, it may harm you. Never attempt to fix the product yourself. Please warn us!
